This dive site is located in the south of Tenerife, on the coast of Arona. The Cave of Ali Baba is a small cave located at a depth of 41 meters, surrounded by a rocky bottom and lava flows with strips of white sand.

While it is true that the area is not very large, its beauty and the numerous shrimp found in it make it a very attractive dive.

🐠 What marine species can be seen in the area?

  • Shrimp: these are crustaceans that can be found in various species and sizes in the Ali Baba cave. In spring and summer they concentrate in large numbers in the cave, creating an impressive visual spectacle.
  • Brotas: also known as bream, they are medium-sized fish that feed on crustaceans and algae. They can be found in rocky and coral areas.
  • Franciscan marias: they are species of mollusks that inhabit rocky bottoms and feed on invertebrates. They are white and have a very characteristic shell.
  • Grouper: they are large predatory fish that inhabit rocky and coral bottoms. They can reach a size of up to 1.5 meters in length and are highly valued by fishermen.
  • Abades: they are medium-sized fish that feed on crustaceans and small fish. They are found in rocky and coral areas and are easily recognizable by their coloring.
  • Cabrillas: they are small to medium-sized fish that inhabit rocky and coral bottoms. They have a striking coloration and feed on crustaceans and small invertebrates.
  • Rascacios: are species of rays found in rocky and sandy bottoms. They have a grayish-brown coloration and are quite elusive.
  • Black stingray: is a medium-sized ray species that inhabits rocky and sandy bottoms. They have a dark coloration and are usually at rest during the day.
  • Black coral: is a species of coral found in deep and rocky areas. It has a dark coloration and is highly valued for its beauty and rarity.

🤿 Conditions for diving in Ali Baba Cave

Ali Baba Cave is a dive for experienced divers, as its maximum depth exceeds 45 meters. It is important to be cautious with the depth in order not to enter a long decompression.

In addition, in this area the presence of current is frequent, which can be moderate or strong. In extreme cases, it is preferable to postpone the dive and look for a more sheltered place or wait for the tide to rise.

The Cave of Ali Baba is a diving area near the Punta Rasca lighthouse. Punta Rasca is a cape in the municipality of Arona on the island of Tenerife. It is located in the south of the island and is accessed mainly by the Autopista del Sur TF-1 and the Carretera General del Sur TF-66.
